It's just how the game works - sometimes, you just have to guess.

Re: Scoreganizer development
There is a release candidate for a new version of the scoreganizer client that I would like to release into the wild! It replaces the command line interface with a GUI, hopefully increasing usability. It also comes with release candidates for new vsweep and MBH versions that support all characters o...

Re: Official version with higher resolution
(vsweep maintainer here) Unfortunately, no. I have a branch where I started working on this, but it's way more work than it sounds like it should be. One big issue in particular are replay formats that just assume 16x16 squares... https://minesweepergame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1301 <- a ...

Re: Scoreganizer development
Shortly is now (well, earlier tonight) - Scoreganizer is now available in Simplified Chinese! I'd like to express my deepest gratitude to 濮天羿(Tian-Yi Pu), 毛涤尘(Di-Chen Mao) and 翁逸杰(Yi-Jie Weng) for the translations - Scoreganizer was always meant to be not just a tool to host tournaments, but also to...

Re: Scoreganizer development
There has been a huge update - Scoreganizer now supports Arbiter! Also, you don't need to use the official client anymore - there is also a form that you can use to upload your games manually. This is currently the only way to upload arbiter replays, but works for vsweep as well. Note that you still...

Re: Online video player
I have previous experience in writing web video players, and you can see the results through this link: https://hgraceb.github.io/web-minesweeper-demo. The code used in the above link was written at the very beginning and has not been maintained for a long time. The latest code has been archived to...

Re: Scoreganizer development
There has been a small Scoreganizer update - the tournament creation form doesn't require users to input formatted dates into a single text field. Instead, there are fields for dates and times, and on all new browsers, the date fields should show a datepicker. Also, the labels for those fields are n...

Re: New Clone Requirements...
I realise the future will require a client-server relationship for rankings. I meant something different here: Versions where most of the game logic runs on a server that you connect to with a client. This client could then have the same info as the player, eliminating entire classes of exploits: U...

Re: New Clone Requirements...
Oh, and one more thing: We should maybe look into making client-server implementations legal, too. In particular, minesweeper.online is a huge community, we should look into making games played there valid for rankings (with some restrictions - no hints used, etc.). There are drawbacks to this, of c...

Re: New Clone Requirements...
Yup, I agree for the most part. A couple of points: Clones should also compile to macOS. From what I know as someone who has never used macOS (and been using Linux for years) this is even more important than Linux because of lack of 32bit support - on Linux, we can just use 32bit WINE if needed. I f...

Re: Scoreganizer development
A Scoreganizer update has been released! Everything (tm) has now been translated to German, and it is possible to switch between English and German. Now, of course, the number of German-speaking sweepers (that I know of) that don't also speak English is very small, so this change probably won't help...

Hi, Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do here but guess. If you're wondering why this is (still) in the game besides being an obvious flaw, I'd recommend checking out the following topics: https://minesweepergame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=1307 https://minesweepergame.com/forum/viewtop...

I mean that's definitely something! pauv, did he also send you the replays of those games? Would be nice to compare replay and camera recording.

Re: Official Version for mac/linux - We need one
Hi! First of all, I'm sorry for taking so long to reply - real life happened, and in the breaks I had I was really not in the right headspace. Also, I'm pretty sure Cryslon would have compiled Arbiter for Linux ages ago if that were somewhat easily possible. Case in point, Cryslon developed Freeswee...

Re: Official Version for mac/linux - We need one
I took a look at the versions and threads that Tommy mentioned. (Thanks again, Tommy!) No problem! It seems to me that the difficulty isn't a technical one, it's reaching consensus. Yes, absolutely. Is there a way to open-source or take a look at the code for the current official versions? The sour...

Re: When should a clone be legal?
I would like to revisit this since there is a new thread about mac/linux clones , and since I learned something disheartening there: Just FYI - Since OSX Catalina 10.15 dropped 32bit support, it's incredibly difficult to get things working on mac through wine. I run Minesweeper X through wine on my ...

Re: Official Version for mac/linux - We need one
You're very welcome! I'm glad to see this issue being talked about again - especially if the lack of 32bit support in Catalina makes it more pressing. Having to use WINE is suboptimal, but having to use a VM is kinda unacceptable. We should really work out official requirements for official clones I...

Re: Official Version for mac/linux - We need one
The main issue is gonna be to make it official. I don't wanna discourage you - I exclusively use Linux, except for the Windows VM I use to compile vsweep, and I agree that it's way overdue - but getting a completely new clone accepted might be very hard. Is it OK if I give vsweep Python plugins?
Hi everyone! I'm finding the time to put get some minesweeper-related development in \o/And one of the things I've been looking at is something I've been wanting to do a long time - give vsweep the ability to install plugins written in Python. I believe this doesn't make vsweep any less safe, and I'...
