Custom History
Winmine comes with the option to play Custom grids with a variable number of mines. Custom levels have been played since Minesweeper was first released in 1990. The maximum number of mines is determined by ( x-1 )( y-1 ). Although such games were mentioned online as far back as 1997 in now defunct Guestbook at Brian Chu's site, it was not until 2004 that Custom scores were first recorded for comparison. Authoritative Minesweeper hosts these lists, and in 2007 introduced the first official Minesweeper Custom World Ranking.
